FAQs

Who are we?.....

At DR12AM we pride ourselves on originality and quality. We are a small family run business specialising in sourcing the best original printed content of various genres and presenting it creatively to enthusiasts and collectors around the world. Specifically Music, Classic Cars, Classic Bikes and Lifestyle.

What is our product?.....

Our products are uniquely designed original adverts, images and loveable printed matter from the past 100 years. They come mounted and ready to frame. All of our prints are 100% original. We never copy any images and refuse to work with reissued prints. Our images, being original content will have gathered a patina of age and, as original ephemeral adverts, may occasionally exhibit their history visually with occasional foxing, creases and other slight defects due to age, quality of paper and storage over many decades. We consider that is part of their appeal as original vintage documents.  If you purchase one of our prints we recommend you display them out of direct sunlight to preserve the image from fading.

Where are we based?.....

We are based in Harrogate in North Yorkshire, UK.

How?.....

Our images are permanently mounted by experienced staff using professional materials which will help display and conserve your original picture. To protect the picture during handling and transit we enclose in a plastic sleeve and despatch in a strong flat protective cardboard container.

Where do we ship?.....

All orders are dispatched within 5 working days free UK shipping on orders above £35. We also ship worldwide to international customers.

Why?.....

SOMETIMES WE HAVE TO REVISIT THE PAST TO HELP ESTABLISH OUR FUTURE.

We love great Design and we think the adverts on our site represent some of the best popularly printed examples of classic design in the last 100 years. They reflect the qualities, budgets and attitudes of the society targeted by the relevant periodical. In many instances the difference between a great advert and a good advert make the difference between survival or otherwise of the manufacturer, and probably the marketing agency! The relevance of Design can be that important. Now, in this digital age the rise of the web site banner ad has seen off the uniquely designed adverts, promo pieces and loveable printed matter of the past 100 years. A banner ad appears, flashes, draws you in, then disappears. You will never see them again. Our original adverts and documents were similarly usually never designed for permanency, it was assumed that as part of a magazine or newspaper they would soon be thrown away, their job was to draw the reader in to buy now, and the advert would soon be replaced by another. Fortunately paper is a more permanent record, magazines were put in cupboards, and age slowly began to take it’s toll. That’s where we identified the need to preserve, remind and preserve. We're not stuck in the past, we just respect it, embrace it, and we’re trying to make sure it's around for a lot longer than we will be!
